who we are.

Mission Statement
Side By Side Nashville (MC) exists to share the love of Christ with women in medical marriages by encouraging, supporting and ministering to them. We accomplish this by providing bible studies, guest speaker events, seasonal celebrations, girls' nights, play dates, baby showers, and opportunities to serve the community together. We commit to standing side by side our husbands, side by side our sisters in Christ and side by side our Lord.

Why Minister to Physician Wives?
As physician wives, it is our privilege and honor to support our husbands as they care for patients and their families according to God’s calling in their lives. However, navigating life in a medical marriage requires sacrifice that can tax even the strongest relationships.

In many circumstances, medical spouses must uproot and move far from home, separated from family and friends, and they often do so with small children. Their husbands work long, demanding hours for years, while the wives are left to manage all non-hospital related affairs. These conditions leave many women struggling with feelings of resentment, bitterness, loneliness, exhaustion and isolation.

Side By Side Nashville offers a community of people who share circumstances, and this fosters fellowship. One of the deepest desires of the human heart is to be understood, and this group provides women and children with a community of friends who can identify with the medical family lifestyle. For many women, the friends they make in Side By Side become their surrogate family.

Beyond the encouragement that is offered through community, Side By Side Nashville strives to share the love of Christ with medical wives at every stage of medical training. The group hosts a Bible study two to three times per month, and provides childcare, refreshment and rest. Ministering to physician wives in this format invites women to come before God authentically, in a nurturing environment; meeting spiritual needs to which each member can relate.

Ministry Goals
The desire of our group is to grow in our walk with the Lord while supporting one another as medical spouses. We are here to pray for, love and encourage one another, while spurring one another on in our personal relationships with Jesus Christ.
